
Annual Health Surveillance
Annual health surveillance is a screening examination to detect signs of work related health effects. This includes health questionnaire, physical examination, vision check, hearing check, spirometry and urine check.
Asbestos Medical – For Licensed And Non-Licensed Work
For employees working with asbestos, there is adequate clinical evidence to support likely risk for chronic lung disease, lung cancer and mesothelioma. Control of asbestos at work regulations 2012 requires employees to undergo periodic health checks to detect early signs of chronic lung disease and to prevent further damage. This 45-minute assessment is done by HSE appointed doctor for asbestos medicals and includes health questionnaire, physical examination and spirometry.


Drug & Alcohol Testing
Drug and alcohol testing is an essential part of fitness assessment which is undertaken as part of pre-placement medical or is done periodically to ensure safety of the employees and exclude dependence on recreational substances. Alcohol testing is completed through industry standard breathylizer and drug panel is checked from urine sample. Any non-negative results will require sample to be sent to laboratory for confirmation and outcome will be provided as fit or unfit for role.
Please note that Display price (60 pounds) is the cost for screening test only. If the sample is found positive for any substance then additional lab charges will be applicable.
HAVS Tier 1-4
Vibration exposure from hand held vibrating tools is accepted as a risk for Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome and therefore HSE recommend periodic checks for employees working with hand help vibrating tools. This 60 min assessment includes health questionnaire, physical examination, Perdue ped board testing, sensation check, dynamometer grip testing.


Hearing Assessment
Hearing surveillance is an essential part of employee health checks which is recommended from HSE and is a legal obligation if the work role involves exposure to loud noise. This 30 minute assessment includes health questionnaire, clinical examination of ears and Audiometry testing. Outcome is provided as fit, fit with recommendations or unfit for the role.
HSE Lead Medicals
Working with Lead in the long term can cause lead poisoning. This is a disabling illness which may cause temporary or permanent physical or cognitive damage. It is therefore a requirement under control of lead at work regulations that all employees working with lead should have periodic medical assessments to prevent health effects. This includes lead blood levels on a face to face assessment with a nurse and then paper based review with HSE appointed doctor for lead medicals.


Respiratory Assessment
Respiratory health surveillance is an essential part of employee health checks which is recommended from HSE if the work role involves exposure to dust or working with specific fumes or chemicals. This 30 minutes assessment includes health questionnaire, clinical examination of chest and lung function testing (Spirometry). Outcome is provided as fit, fit with recommendations or unfit for the role.
Safety Critical Medicals-Construction Worker/ Working At Height/ Crane Medicals/ Forklift Medical
Safety critical task is a risk assessed activity which may pose a risk for health and safety of operator or others at work. Specific health standards are defined for such tasks by HSE and CBH. This 45 minutes medical assessment includes health questionnaire, physical examination, vision check, hearing check, spirometry and urine check.


Skin Surveillance
Skin surveillance is completed as part of periodic health check or for specific symptoms if the employee is exposed to specific skin sensitizers at work e.g. Chromium from cement etc. Clinical assessment will take 30 minutes and health questionnaire will be completed with clinical examination and outcome will be provided as fit, fit with advise or unfit for role. This assessment will also highlight requirement for assessment with senior occupational health physician for fitness or adjustments at work.
Urine Check
Urinalysis is usually completed as part of other fitness medicals as well as periodic health surveillance however, in some cases, if any abnormality is detected, then repeat assessment can be arranged for reduced cost. Samples may also be sent to the lab for confirmation of results.
